The Center for Service in Action (CSA) at Cal Poly connects students with meaningful service and community-engaged learning opportunities that deepen their education, cultivate social responsibility, and develop leadership through reciprocal partnerships with communities, preparing them to contribute thoughtfully in local and global contexts.

The Learn by Doing Good Awards commemorate members of the campus community demonstrating excellence and distinction in leadership and engagement on campus, as well as faculty, staff, students and community partner agencies for off-campus contributions to the quality of life in San Luis Obispo County and their spirit of civic engagement. Looking to volunteer more consistently with an organization in the community?Whether you are passionate about a cause and want to get involved, or you simply have a service hour requirement to fill, stop by our office (Building 113, Room 119L) anytime M-F during business hours. One of our staff or student volunteers can sit down with you to help determine which organizations might be the best fit for you depending on your interest and availability. We will get you the resources you need! Walk-ins are welcome anytime or email serviceinaction@calpoly.edu and we can set up a time for a consultation.
