The Center for Service in Action (CSA) at Cal Poly connects students with meaningful community service opportunities that complement their educational experience, strengthen their understanding of diversity and social responsibility, and develop skills to become ethical and knowledgeable leaders who contribute to a global society. The CSA cultivates reciprocal service and learning partnerships between the university and community partner agencies, serving community-based organizations and governmental institutions seeking University support to address unmet community needs.

The Center for Service in Action is launching the AmeriCorps College Fellowship program, or "College Corps."  If you are a student interested in applying to the fellowship, or a nonprofit or governmental agency looking to be a service site, please click on the banner above for more information.

For 36 years, Cal Poly's Community Service Awards have been presented to students, faculty, staff, and community partner agencies for their contributions to the quality of life in San Luis Obispo and their spirit of civic engagement.

Awards are given to highlight specific achievements in service. The awards are selected on the basis of the written nomination by a panel of faculty, staff and students and President Armstrong personally recognizes award recipients for their efforts.

The Center for Service in Action (CSA) has returned to in-person operations for the 2021-22 academic year.  We do require that student visitors to our center be masked and show a green campus pass upon entry.

We continue to have virtual service opportunities for those who remain more comfortable with this mode of service.  Students can text 'CPService' to 22828 to get signed up for our e-newsletter, which will keep everyone posted on service opportunities in the weeks and months to come.

If you need more information about the impact of COVID-19 on Cal Poly students, updates from the administration, helpful resources, and FAQs, please consult the Cal Poly Coronavirus website.

For more information on community service during this time, please check out our in-person and virtual community service pages. For more information on donating to our Community Partner agencies, please check out our donations page.
