The Center for Service in Action (CSA) at Cal Poly connects students with meaningful community service opportunities that complement their educational experience, strengthen their understanding of diversity and social responsibility, and develop skills to become ethical and knowledgeable leaders who contribute to a global society. The CSA cultivates reciprocal service and learning partnerships between the university and community partner agencies, serving community-based organizations and governmental institutions seeking University support to address unmet community needs.
Grant Holiday Wishes for Local Kids & Teens
The Center for Service in Action (CSA) invites all students, staff, faculty, alumni and supporters to contribute to the Mustang Holiday Gift Drive. Last year we provided almost 400 gifts to local children and teens for the holidays, and we are hoping to donate even more this year with your support. We are once again partnering with the San Luis Obispo County Department of Social Services, Housing Authority of SLO and, Cal Poly's Students with Dependents!
While most gift requests are in the $30-40 range, donations of any amount (no matter how small) can be made online through our direct giving link to help fulfill a child’s wish. If you are local and would like to go shopping for a specific gift instead of donating online, please stop by one of our giving tower locations on campus to pick up a gift wish tag. Giving towers are located on the first floor of The Recreation Center (Bldg. 43), the second floor of the University Union (Bldg. 65), and outside the Mustang Success Center in the Science Building (Bldg. 52, Room D37).
Bring newly purchased, unwrapped gift items to the Center for Service in Action (Sierra Madre 113 – L119) by Friday, December 6 to help make a child smile this holiday season!
Help us recognize Homelessness Awareness Week with a panel discussion featuring representatives from local non-profit organizations tackling these critical issues. We will delve into the intersection of service and social justice, with a special focus on hunger and homelessness. Come learn how to get involved in community efforts and make a meaningful impact through service and advocacy. Lunch will be provided for all attendees!
